Rotary Pago Pago Welcomes Coral Restoration Trailblazers

At this week’s lunch meeting at Sadie’s by the Sea, the Rotary Club of Pago Pago welcomed two inspiring guest speakers from the Coral Restoration Foundation: Roxane Boonstra (Learning Ecosystems Administrator) and Nikkie Cox (Restoration Administrator).

The pair are visiting American Samoa as part of a learning exchange and were guests of Rotarian Kelley Anderson Tagarino. Roxane and Nikkie shared powerful insights into the decline of coral reefs in Florida and their hands-on efforts to grow and replant coral to help restore marine ecosystems.

Their talk sparked great conversation among members, especially around the future of coral care here in American Samoa. To wrap things up, Club President Raymond Dāvid presented each speaker with a Rotary Club banner as a gesture of thanks and to commemorate their visit.
