Rotary Sends the Clean Team!

Rotary Club of Pago Pago put in a good day's work at Pala Lagoon Swimmings Center on January 27th, 2024. All hands were on the pool deck to help the community pool clean up trash and weeds around the facility.

The clean up was a family affair with Rotarians and their children all pitching in. Work started at sunrise on a beautiful Saturday morning. Rotarians brought trash bags, gloves, machetes, lawn mowers and string trimmers and put them all to use giving the area a facelift. The work primarily involved cutting back the heavy bush and removing vines from the backside of the swimming center fence.

"I'm on support duty," said Rotarian Rob Hardman, as he flipped sausages on the grill. "I know everyone is going to be hungry after working all morning." Indeed, everyone enjoyed the potlock and cold drinks.

Rotarians weren't the only ones getting in on the clean up action. A busload of visiting United Stated Coast Guard from the USCG Cutter Harriet Lane also put in a hard day's work making the area "ship shape."

The Rotary Club of Pago Pago holds regular service days at Pala Lagoon Swimming Center. All individuals and service clubs are welcome to join for work and fellowship. Watch this space or ask a Rotarian to tell you about the next clean up day.

It's hard work but it is also good fun!
